Gainey Tile Policy

Variation & Crazing - Shape, texture, color and size variations are inherent characteristics of handcrafted ceramic tile and are subject to these factors due to the nature of the raw materials and production methods. Once properly installed, the beauty of this handcrafted tile is enhanced by such variation. Some of our glazes are intended to have a crackled finish, which can continue to craze for some time after installation. All crackle glazes must be sealed with a penetrating sealer prior to grouting, as well as after grouting, particularly in wet areas. This process should be repeated in 6 months, but does not affect the look of the tile surface. Please note that unsealed tile will stain. We do not recommend the installation of a crackle finish product in a location with standing water. Gainey recommends sealing of any tile for countertops, with repeated sealing every 6 months and regular cleaning with a soft non-abrasive cleaner.

Ordering - We recommend ordering extra tile with your order; additions at a later date may not match previously installed material. Actual tiles received may differ from samples submitted. It is the purchaser's responsibility to inspect tile prior to installation - please be aware that use constitutes acceptance.

Inspection & Installation - Always inspect your tiles before they are installed, as installation of material constitutes acceptance and no adjustments will be made after installation. Any questions regarding acceptability of products must be resolved prior to installation. Before setting begins, the installer is responsible for checking tile for obvious visual defects. Cartons of tile must be properly blended to achieve a visually appealing aesthetic. We recommend that your tiles be laid out prior to installation to allow blending of color range. An experienced craftsperson should select, blend and set these tiles and follow the installation guidelines provided by the Tile Council of America.

Care & Maintenance - Gainey recommends regular cleaning with a soft non-abrasive cleaner.
